Course Description

Students in this course strive to acquire abilities to teach and develop class based "social studies." The course also aims to cultivate in its students abilities to think critically, understand, and perform research on resources as well as broad academic educational background.

Curriculum

In the first year, the emphasis is placed on introduction to social science and social studies education through seminars and survey courses. Students also participate in training courses at affiliated schools.
In the second year, students continue with the seminars and survey courses. They also begin their practical teaching training including research on social studies practical research.
In the third and fourth years, students conduct specialized research in areas of their choice in training seminars for two years. They also spend the fourth year writing their graduation theses. In addition, students participate in practice teach for two years.

Junior High School Teacher's License: Category 1 (social studies)
Secondary Licenses: Elementary School Teacher's License: Category 1 or 2
High School Teacher's License: Category 1 (geography and history or civics)
Completion of additional courses is required.
